Bellbird, Tiritiri Matangi, New Zealand

In 1969, only 24 bellbirds existed on Tiritiri Matangi Island! Supplemental feeding stations with sugar water helped the bellbirds to move beyond their dependence on the fruit and flowers of the two surviving puriri trees on Tiritiri.
