Much of the original forest on Tiritiri Matangi Island was replaced with farmland. With restoration efforts including the planting of over 280,000 trees, a new and young forest is once again home to increasing populations of endemic New Zealand birds. This view from the Wattle Valley, shows the healthy regeneration of the dense coastal forest.
