Fire Slug, Nudibranch, Janolus ignis, New Zealand

The fire slug (Janolus ignis) is rarely seen during the day because it is nocturnally active and hides during the day near clumps of its food. This nudibranch was found during the day at a depth of 4 metres in sub-tidal waters off the coast of the Catlins, New Zealand.
