Not seen since 32 years ago in 1982, the Supermoon has once again coincided with a lunar eclipse in September 27th 2015, as well as with the harvest moon. With the moon being closer in its oval orbit to the sun by an extra 20,000 miles, the moon appears larger. At Joshua Tree National Park, we were treated to a stunning partial eclipse rising above the horizon, which then progressed to quite a lengthy full eclipse.

The vast and majestic Sierra Nevada is home to the legendary Yosemite National Park. Home to mighty sequoias, black bears, glacial-carved mountains and valleys, forest wildlife, and oodles of scenic vistas beautified by the setting sun. It's no wonder that John Muir was mesmerized with the landscape and outdoor adventure, and dedicated his later life to protecting Yosemite.
